Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No… it’s a review…

So, managed to make it over to the cinema over the weekend to watch the latest attempt at a Superman movie “Man of Steel“.

I had high hopes for this one, all of which are sadly unfulfilled. It’s a good movie, has some decent action sequences and the acting is first rate (Crowe is great as Jor-El, and Michael Shannon is fantastic as the psychotic Zod). It felt in some ways that they were trying to pad out the movie in places, especially towards the end where there’s a good half-hour of what I can only describe as disaster porn. I left feeling hollow and a little disappointed. I don’t know why exactly, but I really was. I may have gone in expecting another dark thriller (as we’d seen with The Dark Knight trilogy), but I suppose that’s not really what Superman is about.

Your milage out of this movie may vary, I know that my pal Madeley really enjoyed it, and he’s a massive Superman fan. I’ve personally preferred Batman, which may explain my lack of any real connection to the story. Go see it at least, and make up your mind… then comment below🙂

That being said, we are being set up for a Justice League movie, so we may see more of a new Caped Crusader

In other news, I also rambled incoherently on British Tech Network‘s Media Show, which was jolly good fun. The episode is not up yet, but keep an eye out for Episode 42.
